Ivy Sinclair arrives at the elite Windermere Hall looking like an ordinary scholarship student surrounded by princes, heirs, and the children of powerful families. In reality, she is a young MI6 agent on her first major undercover mission. Her target is Prince Alexander Windsor, the rebellious heir to the British throne. Intelligence suggests that Alexander may be planning to turn against the monarchy, and Ivy is ordered to get close to him, collect evidence, and be ready for far more dangerous orders if the threat is confirmed.

Getting close to Alexander becomes easier and much more complicated when Ivy is secretly placed in the historic boys’ dormitory. A cruel gossip account follows Ivy’s every move, wealthy student Lola Davenport sees her as a rival, and violent incidents make it clear that someone at the school is willing to hurt people to protect their secrets. Ivy also meets Creston Blake, Alexander’s brilliant and unpredictable best friend, whose dorm room hides an advanced computer setup and whose talent for breaking into secure systems makes him both useful and deeply suspicious.

As Ivy investigates Alexander’s private messages, medical records, and secret meetings, her mission takes her through classrooms, dormitories, the fencing hall, royal polo events, hidden service passages, stables, and a glamorous masquerade ball. Each new clue creates another question. Alexander’s private actions do not always match the dangerous image MI6 has given her, while people who should be helping Ivy begin to behave strangely. Even Headmaster Pembroke, her connection inside Windermere, may know more than he admits.

The greatest conflict is soon inside Ivy herself. She was trained to observe Alexander as a target, but attraction slowly becomes trust and real emotion.
